recording studio at night. Alone in the soundproof booth, actor Denis Lavant reads aloud a text by Marguerite Yourcenar, an extract from her short story A Lovely Morning. It tells of little Lazarus who will sneak out the next morning to join a troupe of traveling actors. Alone in front of a mirror, he dreams of all the characters he will get to play throughout his career to come, like glimpses of memories from his future life. A voice comes out of the actor's body, and conjures images: faces, known or unknown, people met randomly in the streets, here and now, echoing the faces that people Lazarus' dream.

Year 2027 ... for seven years, theaters and live performances have been deemed non-essential and prohibited activities due to covid-19. The Italian government has forgotten to help show business workers who have become ... invisible. A grandfather walking with his grandson through a small village in Southern Italy, arrives in front of a closed theater. Luca, the grandson, has never seen a theater and his grandfather Luigi invites him to enter through a forgotten open door. Luca grew up using his tablet to interact with others and his grandfather Luigi explains the importance of being able to share emotions during live shows. Thus begins to tell his youth and through flashbacks, the grandfather relives his past and how the theater was important in his life. Luca pays attention only to his tablet, and seems to ignore his grandfather's story until a homeless man appears inside the theater, involving Luca in a magic act. At that point Luca manages to understand the beauty and charm of a live performance and confesses to his grandfather that he wants to be an artist when he grows up and when he returns to the theater to take back his forgotten tablet on an armchair he feels the urge to get on stage and finds an object that his grandfather had received as a gift as a child and then had lost.It is not the end but a new beginning, on the poster of Luca's adult show it says sold out. Grandfather Luigi has rediscovered his past and Luca has met his future. Original/Alternative Titl
