Synopsis
recording studio at night.
Alone in the soundproof booth, actor Denis Lavant reads aloud a text by Marguerite Yourcenar, an extract from her short story A Lovely Morning.
It tells of little Lazarus who will sneak out the next morning to join a troupe of traveling actors.
Alone in front of a mirror, he dreams of all the characters he will get to play throughout his career to come, like glimpses of memories from his future life.
A voice comes out of the actor's body, and conjures images:
faces, known or unknown, people met randomly in the streets, here and now, echoing the faces that people Lazarus' dream.
