First To Respond is a short documentary film that profiles SFFD Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTS) in action as they respond to citizens in need of medical service in San Francisco. AAU students, Director, Nanako Fukui and Cinematographer, Yuito Kimura, embedded separately on two nightly ride-alongs to capture in the moment EMTs on their jobs. Edwin Caminho edited the short. Produced through the Production Hub class fondly called PHUB which is part of the Schools of Entertainment at AAU.

The discovery of the Studiolo in Vicolo dei Vetri revealed an environment that seemed destined to remain forever buried by centuries of deterioration and abandonment. Today it is a small treasure chest full of history, art and mystery. During the restoration of an apparently anonymous building, some frescoes referable to the eighteenth century were found under various layers of lime and plaster. However, below them there is the presence of more ancient frescoes attributable to the time of Giorgione (early decades of the sixteenth century). But who frequented this place? When was it built? And what were its original functions? There are many mysteries to which the historical-artistic research is trying to answer. A notary's office? The meeting place of a brotherhood or a secret club? A court for minor causes? These are the most debated hypotheses but there are still many questions and mysteries regarding this environment which, from the first half of the sixteenth century, continues to hide its enigmas. Matt is reluctant at first due to previous experiences with Nick, but decides to go out fishing with his mate to help take his mind off Elise leaving him. However, after one disaster after another and with the occasional tantrum from Matt, Nick still has that cheerful attitude to help his mate overcome his loss regardless of his own. After seeing the bigger picture, Matt realizes that there is more in life than his own problem and after seeing what his best mate has sacrificed, he realizes that there is more to life than his own minor details. True friendship prevails, and the boys enjoy another MAD ANTZ LAGER.

A group of students from Brera Academy experiences the February 2020 italian lockdown, related to the Covid19 pandemic, diaristically filming their present: some of them find themselves forced to live together, others find refuge within family walls. Shooting of the portrait dedicated to the painter Angelo Falmi is interrupted; enthusiasm for this experience which has just begun drops rapidly. New emotions and new questions are rampant in the renewed daily life of the students; life, in the midst of its fragile grandeur, has priority over projects and aspirations: this is how the teacher of shooting techniques Ilaria Pezone decides to reinvent the project offer. In accordance with Rayo Archive, the photographs collected in it are shared with students to draw creative ideas, trying to imagine the others’ lives, belonging to the past. The two diaries (1982/2002) filmed by Angelo Falmi thus become the narration of a past that can belong to the strangers faces immortalized in the photographs; the present is an intertwining between the act of painting by Falmi and the act of filming the students. Unexpectedly, when the seeds were scattered, the dialogue sprouted. The project is the result of the encounter between the gaze of its young authors, the Rayo Photographic Archive and painter and teacher Angelo Falmi thoughts. This film narrates an intense story of love, disease and death, inspired by the autobiographical novel "Beyond the Blue", by the photographer and writer Cesare Bedognè. The book recalls his meeting with Monique, a Dutch girl, who would later get ill and eventually die of leukemia. The novel inspired the theatre performance of the same name, which was in its turn the starting point of this film, first cinematographic experience of Cesare Bedognè. The photographs of Cesare Bedognè and the words from the book alternate then in the cinematographic editing by Aleksandr Balagura with shots improvised on occasion of one of the theatrical performances, with shots taken in Italy, in a deserted Sanatorium of the Alps, place of the past of Cesare Bedognè, and with shots taken in Lesvos, the place of his present. In this sense, the language of this film is based on the relation between the apparently static form of the photographic image and the everlasting "becoming" of the sea shots. In the same way, the empty scene of the stage in the theatre relates with the words of the narrating voice, the music of Bach and the choreographies of the actress.
