A young man, Nick, meticulously cuts a pomegranate, his deliberate actions reflecting a unique perception of the world. Moments later, his sister Mira storms into the kitchen, frazzled as she rushes to prepare for work. Sensing her tension, Nick becomes anxious and fixates on fixing their broken radiator, but Mira dismisses his request, inadvertently triggering a panic attack. As the siblings clash, their contrasting perspectives lead to escalating tensions. Overwhelmed, Nick retreats to his room, locking Mira out. Reflecting on their shared past, Mira recalls a pivotal childhood moment when Nick, once a lively and spirited boy, was traumatized during a speech therapy session where he faced assault and threats. Carrying guilt for failing to protect him, Mira struggles to control their present, while Nick is trapped by his fears. The siblings’ journey culminates in a heartfelt confrontation, where they finally confront the pain of their past, paving the way for healing and a fresh start.

La Paura dei Numeri (The Fear of Numbers)

La Paura dei Numeri (The Fear of Numbers)

2025 • 20 min • Italy
This film is inspired by a true story and an Italian legend. What was it like to be autistic in 1923 and what is it like today? The protagonist of the story is an eleven-year-old girl, affected by Autism Spectrum Syndrome. "We are not different, it's the others who are all the same". What does it mean to be autistic today? And what did it mean to be autistic a hundred years ago? Fear of Numbers is a film about the beauty of diversity. An unpublished and original story of autistic syndrome through the lifes of Anna and Maria, two beautiful little girls that fate unites beyond time. A delicate and profound story on the theme of autism, through a very intense period drama. We wanted to tell how children affected by autism syndrome were often treated a hundred years ago and how, instead, they are approached today. An art house short film that alternates scenes set in the twenties of the last century, when these "different" children were also taken to the exorcist, with others set in our historical period, where these children can be followed as they deserve.

A man with a severe addiction to reading—or in other words, to inhabiting realities different from his own—suddenly runs out of stories to consume and collapses within himself when forced to face his own reality. He ends up trapped in a space ruled by two sides of his subconscious: his addiction (disguised as an immaculate version of himself) and his creativity (a simple, surly typewriter). Guided involuntarily by his creativity, he confronts himself, journeying through the darkest corners of his being, his trauma, and the source of his addiction. Until, at last, he destroys everything—including the supposed typewriter that controls him—and emerges back into his reality, deciding for the first time to live his own story instead of reading others.

His wife and daughter follow his obsession through the squares of Salento, until a phone call seems to finally open the doors to fame. But something goes wrong. So Romolo is forced to choose between saving his family and continuing to chase his dream of fame. Romolo Crudo's pizzica is a dance that moves through town squares, enters the walls of homes, and shapes the life of a humble Salentinian family. This dance is not just a moment of physical release but an unconscious expression of one’s being and personal history.
