Sam hates yellow, her full name and a long list of other things, including herself.
The morning she decides to die, she finds a yellow carillon by her door and decides to give herself 24 hours. Waiting for a bus that will never pass, under an old bus shelter next to two strangers: the extravagant Mr. Manfredi and quiet Timoteo collector of sounds.
Their story is told by Victor, an old writer in love with his fragile wife who wants to turn herself into a yellow fish with blue strips.
