The Silo
2026
Documentary
Synopsis
In 1965, a welder accidentally severed a hydraulic line in an Arkansas missile silo, and 53 of the 55 men inside died. The government’s response compounded their families’ trauma for the next 60 years. Joy DeSpain, whose father was among the dead, and Jason Ulsperger, a grandson of one of the silo workers and the sociologist who wrote a book on the disaster, describe the efforts and the costs to keep the 53 men from disappearing from public’s memory.
