THE LETTER OF FREEDOM
2026
ЛИСТ ВОЛІ
Experimental, Short
Synopsis
Ilya Repin’s famous painting comes to life, revealing the world of the Zaporizhzhian Cossacks as they create their legendary letter to the Turkish Sultan. Amid laughter, jokes, and arguments, they compose an answer to those who know neither fear nor submission to foreign rule. The Scribe reads the letter aloud as the Cossacks listen and laugh. Their letter becomes a symbol of dignity, brotherhood, and freedom — the freedom of people who refuse to bow.
