In the historic town of Itapecerica, one of the oldest in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, a mother and daughter created the Black Arts Festival of Itapecerica (Festival de Arte Negra de Itapecerica – FANI). Since 2019, the festival has grown into a vital space of Afro-Mineiro art, memory, and resistance, held across four editions with its fifth confirmed for 2025.

Through intimate testimonies and collective expressions, this short documentary portrays how the festival became a living archive of ancestral culture and a catalyst for identity. As they built the event, the two women also developed their own identities as Black women, transforming personal discovery into collective empowerment.
