ghost towne™
2026
Experimental, Short
Synopsis
'ghost towne™' is an experimental short film that examines the current state of the American project through the lens of an unassembled hobby model kit depicting an idealistic nineteenth century American Main Street. Set to a monologue from Thornton Wilder’s 'Our Town' by the play’s omnipresent narrator (Hal Holbrook, 1976) in a “make-believe” cemetery, the film scrutinizes American paranoia, morality, and historical optimism during a contemporary moment that ruthlessly exhumes and redeploys the nation’s darkest pastimes.
'ghost towne™' is the filmic culmination of an ongoing multi-disciplinary art project by artist M. Carson Day, and was made partially with select footage from a 2025 installation and performance piece entitled, 'a pie left cold in Our Towne™,' which was inspired by the great American roadside attraction.
