Synopsis
Sutures not only mend tissue; they also weave together memory, pain, and affection.
Over the course of nine months recovering from brain tumor surgery, I embroidered a book using threads inherited from my grandmother. In this piece, the act of suturing becomes a gesture of repair. The book brings together poetry, sublimated images from medical scans, and a series of photographs that document my experience from within the fragility of a healing body: some captured by my sister and partner as they assisted me in intimate moments of care, others reflecting my own point of view, an attempt to hold onto what I could still feel. Epicrisis is also an essay about the body.
