The Doctor of Souls recounts the last twelve years of the Camillian priest Father Pietro Santoro's mission in the church of Santa Ninfa in Palermo, through authentic testimonies, evocative images, and an intimate narrative. Gifted with charisms and supernatural gifts, devoted to confession and the needy, he was tireless: he welcomed penitents even at two in the afternoon, in the sultry summer city of Palermo, and kept the church open at all hours, devoting his life in silence for others.
The bond with Padre Pio, present throughout his life, emerges in surprising episodes: in a dream, the friar himself called him "his continuator." After his death, in the forty-seven days that followed, signs, graces, and a mysterious testimony multiply: a woman claims to have been confessed by him... a month after his passing.
