Synopsis
Within Gilboa Prison, an Israeli occupation penitentiary, encircled by walls in all directions, a rhythmic procession of footsteps marches methodically, north to right, then right to left. A grain of sand falls – a participant in the Freedom Tunnel operation within this prison. Core events unfold within these walls. The journey starts with the discovery of rudimentary tools, like a somehow acquired nail, morphing from obstacles to operation assets. Swiftly, tile digging begins within their cell. Simultaneously, soldier footsteps reflect Israeli security intricacies – frequent inspections, perpetual prisoner tension, counting, suspicion. Events hasten – from digging and discarding to melting and searching – climaxing as a guard enters, intensifying inmate tension. A soldier spots sink sand but ignores it,
reinforcing prisoner faith. With each inspection, prisoners’ determination grows, digging quickens. The tunnel’s done, crawl starts – guard finding an empty cell, initiating prisoners’ crawl vs. soldier pursuit. The film ends: prisoners glimpse freedom, freedom’s light bursting before the soldier.
