Forio, Ischia Island. Through the figure of Salvatore Mattera, a local farmer loved by the people and nicknamed Malvisiello, creator in the 1980s of a festival dedicated to the Syracusan martyr Lucia, in which faith was intertwined with the dream of aggregation and the breaking down of social barriers, the film describes the survival practices of the ancient rural culture, which, together with that of the fishermen, certainly represented the beating heart of the local identity. The result is a poetic and passionate portrait of an ancient world, still capable of surviving through barter and strongly linked to natural rhythms.
