In a small Italian river town lives Maria, a young fisherwoman who works in a local fishing cooperative; one day on the job she meets Giulio and starts dating him....but all is not so rosy.
The girl will find herself discriminated against because she is a woman and once she marries Giulio, her salary will no longer be paid by the cooperative. This will lead her to make a courageous choice. The couple will suffer prejudice, isolation and betrayals on the part of both colleagues and friends; to support both their love and their work, the two guys will have to face a journey of suffering and resilience that will perhaps lead them to see the dawn of better days.
