Synopsis
Set in a coastal resort against the backdrop of a UK held in the grip of Covid-19 restrictions, Lockdown Grand Prix is an imaginative little film combining animation with live action to put a smile on viewers faces after months of enforced misery.
Bemoaning their boredom, two model cars in a toy shop window closed due to lockdown restrictions, plan a drive around the block to raise their spirits. Out of the shop and on real roads they find themselves in a race along the resort’s seafront where a battle ensues packed with thrills, spectacular crashes and touches of humour along the way to the chequered flag. Set in an English resort and true to life, the race starts off in sunshine but encounters rain along the way leading to visits to the pits to change tyres, crashes and skulduggery to regain lost places and even a reconstruction of Alberto Ascari’s spectacular crash in the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix.
With model cars driven by real human drivers along real roads in one of the North West’s favourite seaside resorts, Lockdown Grand Prix brings fantasy and ingenuity to lift spirits after close on a year and a half of enforced restriction. Ten minutes of pure fantasy made for children, Lockdown Grand Prix will delight viewers of all ages with an active imagination.
